My new experience with Donating Hair for a Cause

"It gives hope and confidence.

Cancer patients are losing limbs, important organs, and most importantly the amount of time they are left in the world. If you think superficially, there are much more important things and this one does not make a difference. I have to agree that it does not prolong their life or cure cancer. But it gives them confidence to continue and move on with their fight with cancer. It makes them think that there is still hope. It is so difficult to see for the patients to see their faces in the mirror (without hair) and the sadness in their relative’s faces. When you look ‘normal’ you are happy, and you make others happy. It sort of lightens the environment around them, instead of everyone considering them as a patient having a terminal illness."
- Said a doctor who specializes in Radio diagnosis.

So I wanted to give away something dear to me, like a small sacrifice for the passing of my dearest per dog family member 'Candy'. She had had multiple mammary gland tumors and we also believed she had a uterus rupture at one point due to a tumor. She came out of it all like a pro. Meanwhile I cannot treat every dog that has cancer nor cure humans of cancer nor monetarily help a single cancer patient also ... So from my position I thought a small way to make a difference in the lives of people suffering from cancer was to *DONATE HAIR* ... For making their wigs. It will take me only 2 years to grow that long hair back but it may give a lot of hope and strength to someone who dreaded or refused treatment even, for the fear of looking at a bald person in their mirror. Yes, it is that traumatic and more, for many.

I was a tomboy throughout my school years and was known to be the 'girl with a boy cut'. Post school and college I grew my hair with a vengeance and as of yesterday morning it was below my hip ! It was so dear to me coz I nurtured and handled my long tresses with care and loved them. Chopping it all off in one go was the small chosen sacrifice in memory of Candy.

Remember to Donate to a place that makes wigs available 4 Cancer Patients for a low cost or for free.. beware of places that sell hair for a premium or sell wigs for a super duper price and earn from ur free donation.

For those of u who re going to judge me and say, stop making it sound like a big deal, pls gimme a break and keep that thought to urself. It was a BIG deal for me and I am glad I did this. I urge those of u with long hair to consider donating your hair, who knows u may like summers with short hair! Even kids can do this... the feeling, is PRICELESS!

So I had a quick trip to Chennai and Tirupati and hardly any time to think or contact, research and chose a place or person who would do the honors of sending the hair to the right place. Those who wanna do it on their own, can follow instructions and send it over by courier. Shall share details below.

I chose WINK Unisex Salon to do the needful coz of my time crunch. It is a great salon that's moderately priced. But I tell u ppl, u get ur money's worth. I called in the previous night and said it was a do or die 10am appointment I needed coz of my afternoon flight and didn't give them much time ... Despite that, Mr. Dhana went all the way out, apologized for his absence the next day, called me back and assigned me stylist Ms. Lachi for 10 am. I must say I was one troublesome customer who left the entire decision to the stylist and told her I had nothing in mind. "Just make me look good", I said. She did that and I asked for a bit more, for a semi bang look and she added that in the menu too with a big smile!!! What more shall I ask, u peeps can tell me how I look! 💐💐💐

Loved the salon, the professionals and the service and recommend them to my friends in Chennai.

Thanks Deepika Yadav for recommending the place.

For those who are considering donation :
